How does the service work?
Electric mobility and discreet technology
The route is traveled aboard two-seater electric vehicles, with delivery and recharging directly in the villages. The itineraries are pre-loaded via a digital system that discreetly guides the journey, without imposing rigidity or fixed timings. Technology remains in the background, while the territory remains at the center.
Themed itineraries, free stops, flexible times
Each itinerary is designed to embrace a specific area, connecting its landscape, history, culture, and food and wine expressions. When the vehicle approaches a stop during an itinerary, the virtual guide introduces its context and main characteristics, leaving the traveler the freedom to delve deeper or continue, depending on their time and interest.
The journey as a tool for discovery
The vehicle thus becomes a functional tool for discovery, while attention remains focused on the places, the connections between them, and how the landscape changes along the way.
The available itineraries
Two areas, two territorial identities
The project is developed in two areas of Southern Tuscany, different in character, environment, and rhythm, but united by a strong territorial identity: Radicofani, in the extreme south of the province of Siena and part of the system of municipalities of the Val d’Orcia Park, and Santa Fiora, a natural passage point between Monte Amiata and the Maremma, in the province of Grosseto.
The two areas crossed by InBorgo share a past made of borders, territorial control, and dominant presences: fortresses, castles, and fortifications continue to mark the high grounds, recounting centuries of political balances, noble families, and religious power.
Between Val d’Orcia and Maremma: landscapes, history, and flavors
On one side, around Radicofani, this narrative runs along the Via Francigena, a great European connection axis that shaped the landscape and the life of the villages among pilgrims, merchants, and travelers. The Val d’Orcia opens up into soft, luminous hills, the result of an ancient balance between man and nature, where agriculture has shaped the territory and the food and wine tradition is expressed in wines of great identity, first and foremost Brunello di Montalcino, along with Orcia DOC, extra virgin olive oil, and pastoral products.
On the other side, the Santa Fiora area introduces a different world, rougher and more stratified. Here the landscape changes character, marking the passage from Monte Amiata towards the Maremma, with a greater proximity to the sea that is felt in the air, the rhythms, and the gastronomic traditions. The Etruscan heritage is still present and visible in the tuff towns like Sovana, Sorano, and Pitigliano, in the vie cave (sunken roads) carved into the rock, and in a more direct and wild relationship with the territory, which is also reflected in the Montecucco DOC wines.
